1st Aid Talk after Light Lunch at Drimpton

Today (Wednesday 13th June) I attended the Drimpton Light Lunch, again an excellent selection of soups to choose from – thanks to the ladies who produced these.

I had arranged a talk by Phil Lathey from St John’s, SWAST Ambulance Crew as well as being a Community Responder, on what to do in an emergency – covering what you should do if anyone is suffering from chest pains, choking, excessive bleeding e.g varicose veins and how to get help when you need it and where to go for help, emphasis was given to the fact that if someone looked ill – they more than likely were and should not ‘wait and see how they feel in the morning’ as if treatment for a heart problem or stroke is given without delay the outcome is more likely to positive.

If anyone is interested in finding out more about being a Community Responder please contact me – we still need more recruits, many thanks to Jim Allan who has recently finished his training and is now an active Responder in Drimpton
